| Thank you so much for you interest in Michigan REGAP. As a non-profit organization, there are many areas where volunteers are needed. We welcome all efforts in our mission to rescue these magnificent animals. Whether it is help with adoption, fostering, events, or advocacy, all are equally appreciated.
Many of our volunteers have experience in a variety of areas. Please let us know if you have a certain area of expertise or if there is certain areas of REGAP that interest you.
The following are the different core groups of our organization and the contact information for each of those areas. Do what you can; there is nothing that does not make a difference.
Thank you again for caring for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Rescue/Placement Team
This team is involved with everything from transporting dogs from an out-of-state carrier - usually an hour or more away from a central meeting point; to fostering the dogs until they are matched; to ensuring the proper medical work is provided; as well as interviewing potential applicants and foster homes and making follow up calls to the new adopters.
This core team is in constant need of foster homes and drivers. Foster homes provide food and love to the track dogs and help them adjust to home living. All vetting is paid for by REGAP. We truly appreciate our foster homes since we can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes; we do not have a kennel. Drivers with minivans or SUVs are also needed, but we like to have two adults per vehicle when transporting dogs; so passengers are also needed.
Donations of blankets, crates, food (quality lamb and rice), bedding, etc. are always appreciated. Have a cat that does not mind traveling? We occasionally need to re-cat test our dogs while they are in foster care. Have a vet that is interested in working with our group? We need vets in all parts of the expanded metro Detroit area.

Financial/Fundraising Team
This team is charged with raising the money needed to support activities related to achieving our mission statement. Do you have experience with raising money for a group? Are you good at organizing an event or project? Do you have ideas or connections with merchandising individuals? Are you a detail-oriented person? Then this team is interested in your help.

Events Team
This team is focused on spreading the word about REGAP and talking to the general public about the plight of the racing greyhound. You do not have to be a greyhound owner to help. We need people to staff booths and pass out literature during many local events so the public can get acquainted with the breed and to clear up any misconceptions they may have about greyhounds as pets. We try to target as many places where there will be large gatherings of people as we can manage. Without these meet and greets, you may not have even heard of REGAP.
Do you like to talk to people? Do you have a greyhound that is comfortable in noisy areas where he will be lavished with affection? Do you know of events or places that draw a large crowd of people? Do you have an hour or two once or twice a month? You can help by volunteering to staff events, or by passing along event entry contacts and suggestions. Please check out our website regularly to see a listing of our current events.

Advocacy Team
This team is charged with ending greyhound racing. Although, this is a daunting task, there are already a great group of volunteers working tirelessly to this end. As this team identifies issues, there will be requests for letter writing to government officials and the news media. This team also speaks to schools, organizations, and anyone who will listen about how greyhounds make great pets and the horrors associated with their life at the track. We have presentations that are tailored to every age group.
You can help by being ready to write letters when requests are made. If you have media experience or contacts, this too would be great. Are you in an organization, school, or girl/boy scout troop? Then perhaps you can assist with arranging a speaking engagement. We will provide speakers, if it is not your cup of tea. Like to speak in front of crowds? We can always use more public speakers.
If you have experience writing, preparing posters, artwork, or multimedia displays, this team would like to hear from you.
