Letters to the editor and comments on articles are powerful ways to inform the public about the plight of racing greyhounds. The editorial section of a newspaper is widely read and is monitored by politicians. In a letter to the editor, or comments on an article, the writer can discuss information not mentioned in the article, refute positions and address misinformation.

.When writing in response to articles either online or in print, keep the following suggestions in mind:

Stay within to word count requirements. This information can usually be found by following the , "Information" or "About" links online and in print on the Op-Ed page. In any event keep your response as short as possible as brevity is likely to attract more readers than an essay.

Open with a strong statement, and be sure to place the most important information at the beginning. Often a personal anecdote attracts readers' attention more than a simple statement of fact.

Include your name, daytime and evening telephone numbers, email address, and mailing address so the paper can verify that you wrote the letter.
